We are happy to report that the SJCP Booster Club is off to a great start!  We have surveyed each SJCP coach to determine their short-term and long-term needs and are working with the Athletic Department to develop a plan to meet these needs.  As we review these lists and work with the coaches and athletic director, we are also ready to move forward with the other initiatives that the SJCP Booster Club has identified to further enhance the athletic experience at Saint Johns.

Below is an outline of various committees we are looking to form.  Please consider lending your support because the more people we have, the easier the task and the sooner we can make a real difference. Despite our exciting start, there is significant work ahead and we are reaching out to you now to solicit your help.

Maintenance Committee

This committee will identify any maintenance needs the Athletic Department may have to include painting the weight room, the gym and working on all existing fields to improve conditions etc.  We want all of our teams to prepare in a safe and well maintained environment and this committee will help in that endeavor.  Whether we perform the work ourselves or locate qualified contractors to assist, this committee will be involved in these and similar initiatives.

Media Committee

This committee will be responsible for promoting the SJCP athletic teams within the school and to the outside community.  Some of the ideas are seasonal media guides, rosters at each home SJCP sporting event, developing Booster Club apparel etc. Moving forward, we may also look to this committee to prepare materials for the various fundraising activities we will pursue.

Golf Committee

This has been a major fundraiser for the SJCP Athletic program for many years and the SJCP Booster Club is excited to announce that we will be reviving this event in October 2010. This group will work with the Advancement Office in putting the event together.  We are looking to fill the following positions, among others, immediately:

Golf Chair – This person will be the single point of contact between the committee and the school advancement office.  Duties include managing the committee and helping to promote the event.

Sponsorship Coordinator – This person will be responsible to pursue both major sponsors as well as hole sponsors.  The advancement office will assist in this endeavor by providing lists and contacts who have supported the event in the past.

Activities Coordinator – This person will manage and coordinate the “game day” activities such as 50/50, raffles, hole activities, mulligan’s etc

Foursome Coordinator – Working with the advancement office, this person will focus on locating and signing up foursomes for the event.

Auction Coordinator – As in years past, we intend to hold a silent auction at the golf tourney and this person will coordinate getting the items. 

Volunteer Coordinator – This person will work to locate and manage the 8-10 volunteers needed to run the event on the day of the tourney.

Web Site Committee

We would like to create a separate section on the school web-site for the SJCP Athletic teams where it would promote all teams by showing rosters, schedules and accomplishments of all our teams. This section has yet to be clearly defined so this is a unique opportunity to put your creativity to work.

Outside Fundraising Committee

This committee would work with the Advancement Office in soliciting outside donations via selling advertisements and other methods. For example, banners and ads could be placed at the school and in the sports programs once developed.

Apparel Committee

This group would be responsible for developing and selling SJCP athletic products at home games or via an on-line store.

As you can see, we have identified many ways in which we can help to improve the SJCP Athletic programs.  However, we will need your support and assistance in accomplishing these goals.  Please respond to the following e-mail address as you consider lending your support to this effort: sjcpboosters@my.saintjohnsprep.org. We would like to develop these committees before the end of the school year so please respond at your earliest convenience.

Finally, if you are unable to lend your time to this effort but would like to support the SJCP Booster Club, please consider making a donation.  Donations can be made to the SJCP Booster Club General Fund or if you prefer, you can earmark your donation for a specific sport or need.  We will be providing frequent updates that will outline our accomplishments and future plans and appreciate any support you can provide.  If you have any questions, we can be reached at sjcpboosters@my.saintjohnsprep.org.

SAINT JOHN'S CLASSIC GOLF TOURNAMENT
